We have a strict tantrum rule - if you're crying, screaming, throwing or having trouble staying near mommy, something is clearly bothering you and we need to take time to take care of it in private. We immediately pick up wherever we are and go home. I had to invoke the tantrum rule at Wal-mart a couple of weeks ago. It was ugly, we ditched the shopping cart and everything. You have to shoot for fast and consistent with that. I know how you feel.
